3.1.9.f Center console
A panel for the cladding of the gear lever (on cars with manual gearbox) or the selector for selecting the operating mode (on cars with automatic gearbox) is installed on it. The center console is also a surface for various auxiliary switches, additional containers, ashtrays, armrest and other additional equipment. Sometimes on cars with automatic transmission there is no selector as such. Instead of it, a selector for switching the automatic transmission operating modes is installed on the center console, in the most honorable place.
Also, a parking brake lever (in colloquial speech - "handbrake") or a brake activation button (if the parking brake is electromechanical) can be installed on this console
Notes
The gear lever/mode selector, depending on the design, can be located in different ways: on the center console, on the central control panel and on the dashboard under the steering wheel.
