4.11.3.d Enriched mixture
Enriched mixture is a mixture that has a slight lack of air if compared with the normal amount (about 13 kg per 1 kg of fuel). The combustion rate of the enriched mixture increases. As a result of this the pressure of the gases in the cylinder increases by the beginning of the working stroke of the piston. Therefore, when operating on an enriched mixture, the engine develops the highest power, but at the same time, a slightly increased fuel consumption is observed.
