4.11.7 Idle run
A small amount of fuel is required to operate at idle run. But the mixture must be rich enough to be sufficient for stable engine operation.
In the simple carburetor, which is designed for normal operation when the throttle blade is closed, for the engine to operate at low idle speed, the vacuum in the diffuser is reduced so much that fuel does not flow from the disperser at all. Therefore, an idle system is introduced, which allows the engine to operate regardless of the vacuum in diffuser.
